Dining upgrades are on the way to The Boulevard Mall, but the Southern Nevada Health District found enough problems in the food court to shut down Coney Island Gourmet Hotdogs.
Inspectors closed the walk-up spot for an “Imminent Health Hazard” they described as "gross unsanitary occurrences or conditions including pest infestation." They also discovered violations for "effective pest control measures."

Formerly at the Meadows Mall, Coney Island Gourmet Hotdogs moved to the eastside in 2014, serving a menu of of old-school mobster and east coast-themed dogs, like the “Cyclone” and the “Lucky Luciano.” The last inspection in September 2016 earned an A grade.
The health district conducts unannounced inspections at least once a year. Inspections are posted online about five days after the inspection. The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
