The love affair with New Mexico’s Hatch chilis is over at Chile Addiction. The restaurant that opened in 2015 called it quits on Aug. 9.

On Facebook, the restaurant posted:

Dear Chile Addiction friends, family, and customers. It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we have been forced to close the restaurant. We did amazing things together over the past two years and managed to keep our 4.7 star rating here, but unfortunately, keeping the restaurant open in this location was very expensive and we didn't feel we could raise our prices anymore even to get to the point we could stay "in the black."

We hold hope that one day in the future, we can open in a different location, or maybe offer our food for "home delivery" to our most addicted customers ;) (if this is something that you're interested in, please comment below!)We can't thank you enough for your business and your friendship!

- The Chile Addiction Team

The restaurant specialized in the red and green Hatch chilis from Hatch, N.M., with a menu of enchiladas with a fried egg on top, “low tolerance” tacos for those who can’t take the heat and the blackout chile rellenos dipped in batter and deep-fried.
