Those who hoped to visit the sequel to the farthest west outpost of White Castle over the Labor Day weekend may be out of luck.
The fast-casual burger kings have been hiring this month for all positions at its downtown location on the Fremont Street Experience and will continue the process on Sept. 1-2, a very tight turnaround for new hires to become acquainted with the carefully coordinated service and projected heavy crowds set to swarm on opening day.
The hiring schedule matches a report by local KTNV-TV, which recently announced a “late September” debut. The first Las Vegas branch opened in January 2015 to enormous lines and early success. The Fremont and Fourth Street expansion will also be open 24-hours a day and operated by the same developers behind the franchise's still popular Strip home at the Best Western Plus Casino Royale.
Downtown, White Castle shares the space with a Harley-Davidson retail store, but its white-and-blue striped facade will be hard to miss since the company replaced a decades-old, illuminated Trader Bill's sign with its own branded marquee.
Yet to be announced, if this new location will feature Las Vegas-themed merchandise, including mugs, apparel and empty "crave cases;" will let fans order online to pick up at the restaurant; or include a downtown delivery service.
