Fans of fries, Belgian not French, can now head over to the Campus Village retail center across from UNLV and discover a world devoted to European-style snacking.
House of Frites takes over the ground floor corner space on Maryland Parkway, once occupied by Mr D'z Fish House and right next door to Moondog Records.
On the simple menu, Belgium-inspired fries they describe as “...so classy ...so saucy ...so naughty,” available in sizes from the $4 small, up to the $8 “extra-extra large." The “naughty” style is prepared in lard or canola oil.
A big draw will be the very large collection of sauces, including "Worcestershire aioli," onion gravy, pesto, marinara, mushroom gravy, Thousand Island, ranch and salt and vinegar, "currywurst," "smoky beer Cheddar," and "Bordelaise." Sweet choices include honey garlic and "chocolate gravy."
Also on the menu, a $5 poutine and and a $5 brätwurst, featuring toppings like relish, melted cheese and jalapeño.
