A big year ahead for downtown's Casa Don Juan with a huge upgrade in the works for its original restaurant on Main Street and the debut of its third location at the southeast’s Sunset & Pecos plaza.
The restaurant, serving in stealth mode, hasn’t released details of opening hours or its contact information. The “authentic Mexican restaurant” takes over the easy to find, former Jalisco Cantina space at the intersection of Sunset and Pecos roads.
On the menu, a familiar menu featuring carnitas, tacos and tortas, chile rellenos, enchiladas, burritos and its very popular margaritas, all honed during twenty years of business.
Casa Don Juan first expanded in 2015 to a corner location at 1780 N. Buffalo Drive, near Summerlin. Next up, the original Main Street home is scheduled for its largest makeover since opening in 1995.
Early plans call for the current 7,940-square-foot layout to add 11,076-square-foot of new restaurant, creating dining rooms, an expanded bar area, covered and uncovered patios and a brand new, second floor, with its own dining areas, bar, balcony and even an elevator for convenience.
The owners revealed to KVVU-TV they are aiming for an early 2018 completion for the upgrades.
