Yes, now anyone can take a stab at owning the Chicken Ranch, the brothel closest to Las Vegas and probably the most famous cathouse in Nevada. Today the ranch placed the for sale sign outside its 40 acres in Pahrump, asking $4.5 million for the business, facility and other assets.
The current owners operated the brothel since 1982, but the Chicken Ranch originally started in La Grange, Texas, in 1844. Since, the bordello earned a place in entertainment history with The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas on Broadway for four years and then on the big screen starring Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton in 1982.
The brothel moved to Nye County, where prostitution is legal, in the 1970s after the governor of Texas ordered the original shut down. The Chicken Ranch features a living room, kitchen and working girls’ bedrooms as well as an attached bar dubbed the Leg Horn. Other facilities on the property include guest bungalows, offices, pool and spa, workout rooms and storage. The sale includes furniture, equipment and even the Chicken Ranch name, trademarks, copyrights, and websites.
Owner Kenneth Green describes the business as a turnkey operation.
