An unfortunate flood from a leaking pipe at the Planet Hollywood resort back in July provided the impetus for a dining re-brand just off the casino floor. The 24-hour diner Planet Dailies promised it would return after a necessary remodel, but new plywood reveals the space is being transformed into newcomer Café Hollywood.
Set to offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night dining, the café will also feature a wine and cocktail bar for “pre and post theatre bites.” Sporting a motto of “Film. Food. Fun.,” customers will be able to admire the “amazing dessert display,” book the private dining room, or watch live sports.
Yet to be announced by the resort, the Planet Dailies OpenTable reservations page has already switched over to the new name and the original diner’s Yelp page is predicting an Oct. 1 return for the space.
The official operator of the café is still under wraps, but Planet Dailies arrived on property in 2007 from creator Robert Earl, the force behind Buca di Beppo, the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain, Mixology101 and the Earl of Sandwich outpost on the opposite side of the casino. A Los Angeles expansion of Planet Dailies opened in April 2012 at the Original Farmers Market and has also permanently closed.
