The Mixx Grill & Lounge OUT at Boca Park

Gaming and hype couldn’t keep the restaurant alive

Doomed within weeks of its June 2016 debut, The Mixx Grill & Lounge has finally limped to a shutter at Boca Park. The confused concept was hyped to the gills, including indulgent video profiles of the team, plus boastful promises of hosting “some of the top DJs from around the world” and “a myriad of vivid colors and breathtaking design elements.”

The restaurant debuted with chef Bryan Ogden at the helm, before he jumped ship less than six weeks later. Owner and operator JP Teresi, the former general manager at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas, launched the self-described “culinary theater in the round,” where guests made many of the ingredient choices before watching cooks prepare their “South Pacific, Vietnamese, Chinese, Australian, Polynesian” and French-influenced meal.

Haunted by poor reviews, last November Mixx was even shut down by the Southern Nevada health District. Not even securing a gaming license to add video poker to the bar could salvage the project.

While Mixx has yet to announce the closure, next for the space will be an unnamed “new chicken place,” currently hiring “30 qualified employees.”
