Fans of chef Carla Pellegrino will have to travel to Yosemite National Park to eat her cuisine. The chef who appeared on Top Chef and closed her Henderson restaurant Bratalian earlier this year takes over The Majestic Yosemite Hotel as the executive chef. Pellegrino came to Las Vegas to open Rao’s at Caesars Palace, and then went on to open Bacio at the Tropicana, Meatball Spot at Town Square, and Touché in Miami.

Ellis Island has two new brew masters. Michael Key takes over as director of brewery operations and Eddie Leal is the new head brewer. The two new brew masters are updating the beer program, debuting at least one new brew a month, and incorporating a more diverse lineup to the beer tap rotations. Key held an apprenticeship with Dan Gordon, founder of Gordon Biersch Brewery, in Pasadena, California, more than 25 years ago. As senior regional brewer for Gordon Biersch, Key earned gold and bronze medals at Great American Beer Festival. Leal started his brewing career at Steelhead Brewing Co., where he served as the assistant brewer under Key, until he left and became head brewer one year later. With more than 20 years of experience as a brewer, Leal has won numerous medals as well for his brewing craft at the Great American Beer Festival. In early 2019, Ellis Island promises the Front Yard will open with two stories of outdoor space for dining, drinking, and entertainment.
