SEOUL KOREA — Akira Back’s Dosa earned a Michelin star when the latest guide debuted. The former professional snowboarder turned chef has Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant & Lounge at the Bellagio with Japanese fare and Kumi Japanese Restaurant & Bar at Mandalay Bay with his Korean-American twist on traditional Japanese dishes. This is the second year Dosa earned a Michelin star. [EaterWire]
WESTSIDE — Balance out that pot high with some caffeine. The new Planet 13, dubbed the largest pot dispensary in Las Vegas, debuts on Thursday and includes a coffee shop. The 40,000-square-foot complex takes over a former Coors warehouse on West Desert Inn Road near Sammy Davis Jr. Drive. Aside from pot, other novelties include “Burning Man-inspired” lotus flowers that illuminate on the roof, an LED light motion-sensing floor, orb balls, and projectors that bring to life an art wall that visitors can use fake spray cans to draw their own works of arts. Oh, and pot. [Las Vegas Sun]
LUCKY DRAGON — No one placed a bid on the now-closed Asian-themed casino and hotel on Sahara Avenue. An opening bid for the 200-plus room hotel with three restaurants was $35 million. California-based Snow Covered Capital remains its main creditor. [AP]
