The large, former T.G.I. Fridays at the corner of Flamingo Road and Spencer Street has been vacant for years, but the Texan-company behind the Los Cucos Mexican Restaurant chain is preparing to flip the space into a showcase for its new concept.
Vida Mariscos Seafood & Sports Bar will take over the 8,500-square-foot building, the only dining tenant at the huge Greystone Office Park. Leased earlier this year, work will soon begin on the remodel, currently valued at an estimated $240,000 in construction costs.
The parent company has operated Los Cucos Mexican Cafe in Spring Valley since 2016, one of more than 20 locations that stretch across Texas and Utah.
Self-described as offering “a contemporary atmosphere with authentic Mexican and seafood cuisine,” the original Vida Mariscos is open daily for lunch and dinner with late-night hours on the weekend.
The long menu includes familiar choices and less common specialty dishes of grilled whole red snapper, fried tilapia, bacon wrapped shrimp, lobster tails, and a grilled chicken breast stuffed with shrimp, tomatoes, cilantro, and onions.
An estimated opening date has not been announced.
