From Reno, via the Lone Star state, Texas Meltz is the latest entry in the local casual sandwich scene, offering a collection of themed choices, served grilled or cold on Texas toast or 8-inch “sub rolls”.
Launched in the northwest of Reno two years ago before shuttering earlier this year, Texas Meltz has relocated to Las Vegas and replaced the former Osi’s Kitchen at the westside’s Sahara Pavilion retail center, close to the intersection of Sahara and Decatur Boulevard.
The compact menu is structured around 15 sandwich choices, all priced at $8.95 and named after Texas landmarks, including “The Amarillo” made with roast beef and filled onions, “The Plano” built with turkey and fired onions, and “The Dallas” stacked with brisket and barbecue sauce.
Six different “Cowboy Burgerz” are also served on Texas Toast, created with a half-pound patty and adding smoked sausage to “The Laredo” and ham, pineapple, and Swiss cheese to “The Hawaiian Falls.”
Sides include $4.75 Frito pies, $1.99 tater tots, and $3.95 ”home style chili.”
Texas Meltz, 4604 W. Sahara Ave., 702-202-1622. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and closing at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
