Revealed back in April, Maui Tacos’ move to the Ninth Island is officially back on schedule for a January debut in the southeast.

Created in 1993 by celebrity chef and restaurateur Mark Ellman, original plans for the Nevada franchise included a Reno branch now set to open later in the year and hopes to operate a total of six Las Vegas outposts.

The corner space at the Sprouts Retail Center, close to the corner of Silverado Ranch and Maryland Parkway, will import “Hawaiian BBQ pork burritos, fresh fish tacos, chicken enchiladas, mango salads, vegan and vegetarian options, pineapple salsa and coconut flan.”

Maui Tacos’ fast-casual favorites also include “Surf Burritos,” served “wet” with enchilada sauce and toppings from the salsa bar, stocked with choices graded from mild to “Maui Firedancer.”

In Las Vegas, diners will also be able to order beers from the Maui Brewing Co., Hawaii’s largest craft brewery.
