Scandinavian Fare Arrives in Henderson

Diners looking for casual dining with authentic “Scandinavian Flair” can now head to Henderson and new arrival Saga Pastry + Sandwich.

Taking over the shuttered Crepe Shack close to the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Horizon Ridge Parkway, owner Gert Kvalsund has taken inspiration from the entire region for his menu and also added a collection of retail items, including a selection of imported candy to rival Ikea.

Diners can order Nordic or American waffles, and Swedish pancakes, with toppings of lingonberry, fresh strawberries, and other fruit.

The Arctic cold-water prawn, Norwegian smoked salmon, and ham and Jarlsberg cheese open-faced sandwiches are all priced at $10, or customers can opt for the creations prepared on a baguette.

Cakes and desserts include Swedish princess cakes, cinnamon knots, and the Norwegian “World’s Best” cake.

The restaurant also serves Death Wish Coffee, self-described as “The World’s Strongest Coffee” for a Viking-style jolt to the day.
