Created by Wassa Coulibaly, an ex-performer in Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity on the Strip, Baobab Cafe debuted at Town Square inside the former home of the Coco Cafe.
An expansion of Coulibaly’s Baobab Stage Theater project, currently under construction behind the cafe, the name was inspired by the African Baobab tree, an “oasis of life-giving refreshment in the desert.”
Designed to schedule live music, improv comedy shows, open mic events, and monthly fashion shows featuring Coulibaly’s Wassa Wear clothing line in the evenings, customers during the day can also experience coffee “served in the style of the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony.“
On the the menu, alongside traditional cafe options, salads such as the $12 “Freedom Chicken” and $13 “Fish out of Water,” plus a roster of sandwiches including the $12 “Wanderlust Salmon,” $10 “Hippie Ham & Cheese,” and the $8 “Boho Veggie.”
