Andy Hooper, a partner in The Black Sheep, has big plans for 2019. He plans to open a new independent project called Locale Italian Kitchen in Mountain’s Edge Marketplace on Blue Diamond Road and Buffalo Drive in spring 2019
Locale will serve lunch and dinner daily with a weekend brunch. Italian cuisine in both la cucina povera, peasant cooking, and updated American-Italian styles. So far, Hooper hasn’t announced a chef for the new project.
The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will seat 72, along with patio seating.
Before opening The Black Sheep, Hooper was director of operations for chef Daniel Boulud’s Dinex Group and a general manager with the Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group and at DB Brasserie inside the Venetian.
The Black Sheep opened in May 2017 near Rhodes Ranch serving Vietnamese-American comfort food made with locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant won the Eater Award for Restaurant of the Year and Chef of the Year, for chef Jamie Tran.
