The first of two big expansions for the 83-year-old Steak ‘n Shake restaurant chain has an official opening date and will be located a manageable walk from the Strip.
The home of ”steakburgers,” melts, fries, and “hand-dipped shakes,” will debut at the Hooters Casino Hotel on Friday, March 16, at 11 a.m. The restaurant fills a substantial 6,475-square-foot space inside the former home of Mad Onion Fine Food & Spirits, almost doubling the size of a standard franchise outpost. The restaurant has room for more than 200 guests.
Currently hiring, opening hours are yet to be announced. The original local Steak ‘n Shake debuted in December 2010 at South Point, still serves daily until midnight and 1 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with long lines of customers a very common sight.
A second, smaller and limited menu counter-service venture opened at UNLV’s Student Union food court in January of last year.
And a fourth home is also in the works at 150 St. Rose Parkway Trail in Henderson, close to the shuttered former home of Hot Head Burritos. An updated debut date has yet to be revealed.
