Proudly calling itself the first Las Vegas restaurant solely dedicated to Egyptian meals cooked the “old traditional way,” diners looking to sample some authentic Egyptian street food can new head to Pots on the westside.
Located close to the intersection of Rainbow and Oakey boulevards, Egypt-born and raised executive chef Iman Haggag oversees a casual menu that specializes in “100% Vegetarian” dishes, with plenty of vegan choices.
The counter-service concept features a small lounge near the front entrance and decorations including antique Egyptian pottery.
On the menu, $6.99 bhard baba ghanoush and $5.99 hummus or tzatziki options. Salads include the $4 salata baldai, an “Oriental Egyptian salad with cucumber, tomatoes, cilantro and carrots.” The sweet potato fries are upgraded with Egyptian doqqa and smoked paprika spices and lentil or orzo mixed vegetable soups are priced at $5.99.
Street food selections include the cauliflower shawarma, plus the $6.99 taamia, an Egyptian falafel served with in-house baked pita bread and the $9.99 koshari, created with “rice, lentils, elbow pasta, chickpeas, special tomato sauce, and caramelized onions.”
For dessert, egy bak, “baklava the Egyptian way” and halawa brownies, a “combination of tahini, halva and chocolate served with ice cream.” Uncommon beverage choices include qahwa, Pots’ own version of Turkish coffee.
