Last September, on a roll of acclaim for his vegan and vegetarian menus at Veggie House and two Vegeway drive-thru locations, chef Kenny Chye floated the idea of expanding his brand to the Strip.
Five months later, “Chef Kenny” is down to one outpost of Vegeway and is now striking out on his own in Chinatown.
Via social media, Chye updated fans that he is no longer the Veggie House chef and owner, revealing on his Facebook page, “my two greedy partner took it when I was in vacation.” He has yet to share a reason for his departure from the fast-casual Vegeway in Centennial, which he debuted last year in January.
Chye is now concentrating on his original Vegeway outpost, serving plant-based fast food in the southeast at 7790 S. Jones Blvd. since September 2016.
He is also teasing his next vegan dining venture, featuring “Chinese cooking, sushi and pho gluten free noodle.” A rendering for the space shows it will take over the shuttered Pho Kitchen at the Rainbow Center retail hub, close to the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Mountain Road and anchored by the Greenland Supermarket. An estimated opening date has not been announced.
