SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS — MGM Resorts heads to Western Massachusetts with a $960 million resort opening in the fall. Restaurants heading to the MGM Springfield include Cal Mare, the Italian seafood restaurant from Michael Mina and Adam Sobel, which already has a location in Los Angeles at the Beverly Center. Other restaurants include The Chandler Steakhouse from Hell’s Kitchen winner Meghan Gill. That restaurant sits inside the former Union House hotel. South End Market features a variety of quick-service restaurants such as Jack’s Lobster Shack; Bill’s Diner with pancakes and blue-plate specials; Hearth Grill with pay-by-the-pound rotisserie chicken, salads and flatbreads; Wicked Noodles with pan-Asian dishes; Wine & Cheese Bar; and Gelato & Espresso. The resort also lands a TAP Sports Bar with burgers and beer as well as a beer garden, 10-lane bowling alley, and arcade. Interesting fact: All of the dining can be accessed from the street. CLARK COUNTY — Salons and barbershops may soon be able to sell beer and wine to go with that cut and color. A proposed Clark County ordinance would expand the types of locations that could file for a permit. Retail stores such as Gucci want to serve beer and wine to customers who make big purchases, while brew pubs could fill growlers. The new ordinance would also allow restaurants to charge a corking fee to reseal wine bottles that customers can take home. The Clark County Commissioners revisit the ordinance on March 6.
