Honolulu’s Matcha Stand Maiko has been wowing tourists and locals since 2016 and has now revealed where its first location on the Ninth Island will be serving this spring.
Promised to be headed to both Las Vegas and Henderson, the original small stand will expand to become the Matcha Cafe Maiko when its takes over the shuttered Snow White Cafe at 3400 S. Jones Blvd. in Chinatown.
The corner spot sits in the same Mountain View Plaza as District One, Chada Thai and Chubby Cattle. Snow White Cafe debuted in April 2016 and finally shuttered last month. The restaurant was known for a fantasy-inspired interior design, its desserts, Stumptown coffee, and themed teas like the ”Poisonous Apple.”
Matcha Cafe will be bringing a menu of ice cream, sponge cake, and “adzuki bean topping” made in house. The very vibrant green dishes are created with finely ground green tea leaves imported from the Harima Garden in Uji, Kyoto, a famed supplier since 1858.
An exact Henderson location has yet to be announced.
