First announced to be expanding to Las Vegas back in September, California-based “meat candy” experts Slater’s 50/50 will be spreading the word of “Burgers, Bacon & Beer” in the southeast later this year.

The upscale casual chain achieved fame for its half ground beef and half ground bacon burger patties and will be taking over the distinctive, round cornered site of the New Day Café, close to the intersection of Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Bermuda Road. The breakfast and lunch spot that opened in 2012, a sequel to the cafe in Henderson, remains open for business.

Created by Scott Slater, the “Baron of Bacon,” the menu at Slater’s 50/50 includes a wide collection of burger choices, including unconventional ingredient combinations, such as the “Peanut Butter and Jealousy,” made with “100% Black Canyon Angus beef, thick-cut bacon, peanut butter and strawberry jelly.”

The restaurant also serves twists on a regular hot dog, shared dishes such as crispy Brussels sprouts, chicken sandwiches, wings, salads, and ”panko-breaded pickles with honey mustard” dubbed “frickles.”

Las Vegas will add local and regional craft beer on tap and the menus will note recommended beer pairings for each entree.

An estimated opening date for Slater’s 50/50 has not been announced.
