WESTGATE — Gamblers at the resort can now order cocktails at more than 600 machines that feature that Beverage Ordering Service System. Players order a cocktail from the menu on the screen, skipping the cocktail server. From there, the bartender and server are alerted, and players can even track their orders. Guests can order as often as they like, and servers will still roam the casino floor for those who do not use the new system. Of course, those in the players’ club upper tier can order premium liquor. [Vegas Inc]
SLS LAS VEGAS — The resort at the north end of the Strip may soon have an official new owner. Billionaire businessman Alex Meruelo appeared before the Nevada Gaming Control Board on Monday and received a unanimous recommendation for a gaming license. Last year, his Meruelo Group made a deal to purchase the resort, which originally opened in August 2014 after a renovation of the former Sahara, from Stockbridge Capital for an undisclosed amount. Meruelo says he may bring some elements from his Grand Sierra in Reno to Las Vegas. He tells News 3 LV that a renovation of the rooms and casino floor are in order. Almost all of the restaurants at the resort, including Bazaar Meat, Cleo, Katsuya, Umami Burger, and 800 Degrees, are part of the SBE family of restaurants, owned by SLS. [News 3 LV]
CASINO ROYALE — White Castle held its first wedding at its Strip location on Sunday. Adam Mandel and Whitney Wicker from Dallas won a contest to get married at the restaurant, which rolled out tables of sliders and mozzarella sticks, a cake shaped like a slider, a waffle bar, and a burger-themed photo booth. LAS VEGAS — Hakkasan Group plans to open its first boutique hotel by 2020. The restaurant and nightclub company behind Omnia and Searsucker at Caesars Palace, Jewel Nightclub and Herringbone at Aria and of course Hakkasan at the MGM Grand has around 60 venues worldwide, including 17 in Las Vegas, and the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the company plans to have 100 by 2020. While hotels are the next step for the company, CEO Nick McCabe says that Las Vegas isn’t on the list due to “the high cost of Strip property.” [LVRJ]
