Bobby Mao’s Chinese Kitchen & Bar has been a dining anchor at the Westfield Palm Desert mall in California's Coachella Valley since 2014, but its expansion to Henderson needs more time to unveil an “unforgettable dining experience.”
Owners Bobby and Tina Mao will slot their fusion concept into the 7,000-square-foot former home of Chevys Fresh Mex, conveniently next to the main entrance and neighboring a Red Robin burger restaurant. For Las Vegas the name will be upgraded to Bobby Mao’s Chinese Kitchen & Mexican Cantina.
Once promised to be ready by “early 2018,” a new rendering of the space is alerting future guests it will now debut this summer.
Indiana’s Society Design Co. and Lebo Design of Las Vegas are behind the look described as “sophisticated” and also featuring a bar and lounge with “TV’s, plush couches and booths.”
In California, the restaurant boasts it offers the “Best Happy Hour in the Desert” and is open for lunch and dinner, serving selections like Asian tacos and sliders, beef, pork and chicken entrees, “flaming fajitas” chimichangas, enchiladas and specialty options like chicken mole and slow roasted pork carnitas.
Larsen’s Grill, the mall’s flagship steak and seafood restaurant, also imported from California, shuttered in February.
