Updating The Slanted Door Move to Las Vegas

Announced by the Forum Shops at Caesars all the way back in May of 2017, the generous construction timetable for The Slanted Door’s highly anticipated move to the Strip might still be a little optimistic.

Overseen by owner and executive chef Charles Phan, the 2014 recipient of the James Beard outstanding restaurant of the year had been promising a summer expansion from its San Francisco home. Moving into a spacious footprint across from Border Grill and Joe’s Stone Crab, fans had been hoping and expecting the restaurant to begin serving early in the season.

The Forum Shops is now updating, “this store is expected to open as of 10/1/2018.” Mall owners Simon Property Group were extremely accurate in their estimation for an opening date for The Otheroom lounge and restaurant last year.

The 8,200-square-foot space will feature windows facing Las Vegas Boulevard and Phan revealed to OpenTable, members of his staff will be relocating to Las Vegas to create “cutting edge” Vietnamese dishes, possibly including restaurant favorites such as caramelized pork belly, “organic chicken claypot,” “Shaking Beef” and a “wood oven roasted whole branzino.”

For an early preview of the award-winning menu, Phan and his team will be taking part in the 44th Annual UNLVino event, on Saturday, April 14, at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.
