Taking its name from the 1976-’77 UNLV Runnin’ Rebels basketball team, a new sports bar is on its way to Henderson’s Water Street.
Located a short walk from Lovelady Brewing Co. and the under construction Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina, Hardway 8 will replace the long vacant JJ’s Bar.
Inspired by the “Hardway Eight,” so-called for their unrelenting style of play, they were the first Rebel team to make the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four.
Filling a substantial 6,489 square feet, close to the intersection with Victory Road, remodels will include the existing kitchen and adding bar-top gaming. Local developer Addison Thom is behind the venture, previously known for his downtown Las Vegas projects, including unfinished plans to build two bars on Main Street.
Among the building improvements, a new roof and skylights, plus a glass windowed garage door upgrading the new facade.
An estimated opening date has yet to be announced.
