The Asian restaurant headed to Fremont East’s Emergency Arts building has committed to a concept.
Shinya Ramen will create a 2,718-square-foot tavern behind the craft beer and American pub menu of Eureka! Plans also include a 257-square-foot outdoor patio on Sixth Street.
Its older sibling, Shinya Maru Ramen & Izakaya, debuted on the eastside last month, with a late-night, izakaya-style menu, ready-made for downtown.
The original Shinya serves dishes until 2 a.m. with tongue-in-cheek names, such as the $11 “Killing Miso Softly,” created with “sugar, spice, and everything nice,” “Eye of the Takoyaki” grilled octopus, plus a chicken dumpling dish named “I’ve Been Waiting for A Gyoza Like You.”
Operated by California's Octopus Restaurant Group, the team behind H2O Poke & Grill at Hughes Center and Gen Korean BBQ House in Henderson and the westside, Shinya Maru replaced one of the company’s own casual concepts, H2O Poke & Sushi Burrito at the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road, across from the Hard Rock Hotel.
Building owner El Cortez across the street, has worked on adding an Asian dining restaurant to the building since last fall. Shinya Ramen is hoping to debut within the next six months.
