Chef Sonia El-Nawal is back at it in the kitchen, opening Rooster Boy Cafe this summer on the shores of Lake Jacqueline. El-Nawal, a former pastry chef at Nobu in New York City, and spent time in Paris and Mexico City before landing in Las Vegas to open The Perch at the Downtown Container Park. She went on to create Rooster Boy Granola before deciding to open Rooster Boy Cafe.

The restaurant plans to serve a menu of breakfast and lunch dishes, featuring vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. Breakfast bowls in the $6 to $7 range come with granola, while toasts features salmon gravlax, avocado, tahini and buckwheat syrup, or egg salad for $7 to $9. Galettes, buttermilk pancakes, a fried egg on a Kaiser roll, huevos rancheros, frittatas, and chilaquiles. Baked goods and desserts round out the menu.

The restaurant plans to be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and until 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Rooster Boy, which has not announced an opening date, joins Americana and Marché Bacchus on the lake.
