GRAND CANAL SHOPPES — Smith & Wollensky makes its highly anticipated return to Las Vegas next year when it opens at the shopping center at the Venetian and Palazzo. The chain steakhouse takes over the former Zeffirino Ristorante space at the mall after closing last year in May. The 14,000-square-foot restaurant seats nearly 475 people, welcoming back old dishes such as a 24-ounce rib-eye steak and a bone-in New York cut, as well as newcomers including an American wagyu beef, a tomahawk steak charred table-side, and rotisserie-roasted chicken, veal, and prime rib. Since May, Gondola Bar has acted as a placeholder in the former Zeffirino space. That restaurant closed at the end of 2017. [LVRJ]
TIVOLI VILLAGE — The Italian restaurant Esther’s Kitchen plans to open a second location at the shopping center on the westside. Owner James Trees plans to take over the former Waffle Bar/Social Bistro & Wine Bar/Pizza Lounge/Radio City Pizza space at the mall in late summer or early fall. Trees opened his Arts District restaurant at the beginning of the year. [LVRJ]
