A new Mexican restaurant has opened on Henderson's Pacific Avenue, with the twist of a substantial menu devoted entirely to “veggie-vegan” dishes.
Taking over the long shuttered Tio Julio’s, a short drive from Water Street and facing Coo Coo’s Gourmet Coffee Cafe, El Cactus is proudly promoting itself as serving the “real flavor of Mexico,” but without the meat.
Featuring an early 8 a.m. opening time, the menu includes flautas, pambazo, tacos, sope, tomales, and tostadas. Entrees arrive with tortillas or bread and aqua fresca and diners can order chile relleno or nopal asado featuring the namesake grilled cactus, plus a full roster of Tex-Mex favorites.
Daily specials will include pozole on Sunday and a $.99 “Taco Tuesday” deal.
