More than a year ago, Sharky’s Woodfired Mexican Grill announced plans to open a second built-from-scratch home for California-based franchise. Now comes word that the restaurant near Blue Diamond Road and Decatur Boulevard not only plans to open in July, but changes its name to Sharky’s Modern Mexican Kitchen.

That name change also brings a new menu. While some dishes remain, such as the power plate, salads, and bowls, new dishes include a chipotle-braised chicken tinga, grilled steak and mushrooms, and a vegan roasted cauliflower and mushrooms taco.

The new 2,915-square-foot location sits next to next to a Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, and Fruits & Roots.

The original Las Vegas location launched in May of last year at the westside’s Crossroads Commons shopping center at the corner of Fort Apache Road and West Charleston Boulevard. That location debuts the new menu (and name change) before the new spot opens.
