More news about the nightclub coming to the Park MGM later this year dropped. Now comes word that On the Record plans to feature The Record Parlor, a secret bar inside the club that opens over New Year’s Eve weekend.
The hidden speakeasy features a small bar and three banquette seating areas with room for 20 to 25 guests.
Los Angeles-based Houston Hospitality from twin brothers Mark and Jonnie Houston plans to feature iconic album covers on the walls, all displayed in wooden wall cases.
The duo dubs this space “a speakeasy within the speakeasy.”
The hidden space plans to feature a bar menu that changes frequently and pairs songs with cocktails. So a customer might request a song and the bartender will mix a cocktail that reflects that song. One example: The Psychedelic Furs’ “Pretty in Pink” might inspire a pink cotton candy-infused cocktail. Customers also have the option of naming a favorite liquor and letting the bartender concoct a cocktail based on that.
Also on the docket, a 1963 Bristol Lodekka double-decker bus the duo plans to convert into a deejay booth at the speakeasy and club. That feature sits in the outdoor space of the venue.
The duo behind Break Room 86, Black Rabbit Rose, No Vacancy, Good Times at Davey Wayne’s, and La Descarga plans to open their first Las Vegas venture and the largest nightclub within their portfolio.
On The Record sits off the casino floor, across from the entrance to the Park Theater. The space fills 11,000 square feet with a speakeasy atmosphere spread over three rooms indoors and outdoors.
