The Chamon Matcha Salon has missed a previously announced July debut date, but is now confidently promising its “premium matcha salon” will be opening in Chinatown on Aug. 10.
Created by the Mon Restaurant Group, the salon take over suite 6, next door to the Sagos Tavern at the Seoul Plaza retail center, already home to two of Mon’s highly acclaimed restaurants, Kabuto Edomae Sushi and Monta Japanese Noodle House.
Chamon will serve “premium matcha products such as freshly brewed green tea, soft serve ice cream and much more!”
Advising local diners and drinkers not to compromise with rival’s “green tea-ish flavor,” Chamon’s menu will be made with finely ground matcha imported from Uji, a Japanese city south of Kyoto renowned for “producing the best quality matcha in the whole wide world.”
The store is also sharing images of future menu choices, including “kinako mousse” sparkling yuzu drinks, parfaits, and a fruit-topped “matcha jewell.”
