In the works since June and ready to install signs to confirm its new name, Sawaddee Thai Restaurant & Bar will very soon occupy the former home of Yonaka Modern Japanese.
The new tenant will be open daily from 9 a.m to midnight, serving an authentic Thai menu.
The highly praised Yonaka debuted on Jan. 21, 2013, close to the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Flamingo Road and quickly earned a loyal following for its casual ambiance and affordable pricing, combined with a dedicated approach to Japanese dining.
Owner Ramir DeCastro expanded to Henderson last September, creating the Purple Potato. All menu items are priced at less than $10 and include a healthy collection of bowls, wraps, porridges, and sandwiches.
Back on Flamingo Road, Yonaka by Chef Ramir launched earlier this year, abandoning the earlier menu and creating an 18-course kaiseki menu, only available four days a week, priced at $125 per person and serving “seasonal, exclusive and exotic ingredients.” Within three months, the handover to Sawaddee was in place.
Yet to announce the closure on social media, Yonaka has not revealed if it intends to relocate either menu elsewhere. The Purple Potato remains in business.
