Announced as aiming for a Labor Day debut at the Galleria at Sunset, California’s Bobby Mao’s Chinese Kitchen & Mexican Cantina hit “a couple of delays” in the final stretch and is now pushing to unveil its fusion menu by the end of the month.
The substantial second-level, 7,000-square-foot space replaces Chevys Fresh Mex, close to the burger selections of Red Robin. A dining anchor at the Westfield Palm Desert mall in California’s Coachella Valley since 2014, co-owners Bobby Mao and wife Tina split the menu between Chinese and Mexican dishes and the “Best Happy Hour in the Desert.”
Featuring two dining rooms and a large square bar and lounge, the restaurant has added a “misted” outdoor “dog-friendly” patio.
Another California import will also be arriving later this fall. Frujuice will offer a menu of aquas frescas, mangonadas, and “bionico” creamy fruit cups.
And Cinnabon will be returning before the end of the year. The ubiquitous brand had left the Galleria last October following six years of cooking up rolls, “bonbites” and “stix.”
