CHICAGO — Tao opens its Asian-themed restaurant and nightclub hybrids in Chicago’s River North neighborhood on Monday. The 34,000-square-foot restaurant features 275 seats, a 16-foot Quan Yin statue, and a two-part 7,000-square-foot nightclub upstairs which is accessible via a separate alley entrance. Lanterns light the alley, 100-year-old Chinese doors, a 10-foot bell, and more deck out the space. Tao has a nightclub, restaurant, and pool party at the Venetian. [Eater Chicago]

BOSTON — Brasserie Jo from chef Jean Joho closes at the Colonnade Hotel on Oct. 7 while the hotel goes through a renovation. The restaurant originally opened in 1998 with a focus on food from the Alsace region of France. The James Beard award-winning chef has Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas.
