Hockey fans headed to the City National Arena in Summerlin now have a quick and easy option to dine and dash back to watch the Vegas Golden Knights on the ice.
The Breakaway Coffee Shop has debuted right on schedule on the first floor, next to the skate rental shop and below the MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub. Both venues are operated by Bill Foley and his Montana-based Glacier Restaurant Group, the same owner of the Golden Knights team and 27 other MacKenzie River pubs.
The “signature” Breakaway purchase is the “Golden Latte,” a double shot of espresso and steamed vanilla almond milk, upgraded with “golden honey, turmeric, cinnamon and ginger,” priced between $4.25 and $5.50 depending on the size.
Located across from the Red Rock Resort, spectators at the arena can catch the Knights on the ice between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m “most days” on a space available, “first-come, first-admitted” basis.
The counter-service coffee shop serves pasties and desserts, including $3 branded “VGK cookies,” a wide range of hot and cold drinks, plus garden salads, sandwiches, a $5 breakfast egg sandwich, and game watching snacks of peanuts, beer nuts, string cheese, and a $1 beef stick.
