Barely nine months after a downtown debut, Bomb Tacos has shuttered on Carson Avenue.

Owned and created by chef Robert Solano, the rapid closure continues a growing trend of Las Vegas operators not informing potential customers via a website or social media that the restaurant is no longer in business.

The 1,414-square-foot former location, close to the corner of Carson and Sixth Street, was previously home to Two Bald Brothers and Zydeco Po-Boys. The retail strip was remodeled in the summer of 2015 after years of neglect.

Solano first launched his concept in Spring Valley in early 2017, following time as executive chef of Mingo Kitchen & Lounge, Mundo, and Olivia’s Latin Cuisine. The Durango Drive original remains open daily, serving tacos and wet burritos.

Downtown, the counter-service space was decorated with “tin walls, brightly colored furniture, Mexican artwork” and design elements either hand-painted or built by the chef.
