Fans of Bank Atcharawan and his Thai food can now pick up his fare at his new Lamaii in Chinatown. Atcharawan — who already has Patio Desserts & Drinks, which he opened last April with its menu of Asian cakes, honey toast, and drinks — now has a modern take on classic Thai food near Macy’s furniture store on Spring Mountain Road.
Atcharawan says the beverages focus on wine “with a large chunk of the list dedicated to Riesling, Champagne, and Chablis.”
For now, the menu features Thai pork salad, fried pork with fish sauce, Thai oysters, a Thai beef salad, drunk noodles, fried rice, curry, and more, all in the $12 to $25 range. A longer menu comes out soon.
Atcharawan, of course, was the sommelier at Lotus of Siam, renowned for its stellar list of Rieslings to pair with spicy Thai food, and went on to open Chada Thai & Wine on Decatur Boulevard and Chada Street with its Thai street fare on Spring Mountain Road. Chada Street closed last March, followed by Chada Thai in May, but Atchawaran had already moved on from those two restaurants.
Lamaii, 4480 Spring Mountain Road, Unit 700, 702-238-0567. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
