One of the north Strip’s most popular late-night destinations has finally expanded to its new home, but in an unexpected move is still operating its original location, less than 300 feet away.
Tacos El Gordo has moved into a larger, 3,558-square-foot space right on Las Vegas Boulevard, two doors down from Masala’s 24-hour fast casual Indian menu.
Tacos El Gordo keeps the same opening hours as its elder sibling a short walk around the corner, famed for the frequent long lines for its Tijuana-inspired street food menu of tacos, mulas, tostadas, sopes, and queasdillas.
The Strip location at 3049 Las Vegas Blvd. S. operated from 2011 until 2014, shuttering after rumored landlord dispute, but made a surprising return in 2015.
So far, the owners remain committed to keeping both sites in business. Off-Strip, their tacos upgraded with suadero, adobada, tripa, buche and cabeza can also be found at 1724 E. Charleston Blvd. and 3260 Losee Road in North Las Vegas.
Tacos El Gordo, 3041 Las Vegas Blvd. S., 702-331-1160. Open daily from 10 a.m to 2 a.m. and closing at 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
