A new arrival on Chinatown’s Spring Mountain Road features an unusual name, a minimal and stylish interior design, and compact menu based around freshly prepared katsu dishes.

Replacing both the shuttered Ramen Misoya Tomi and its sushi roll-focused replacement Go!ku J-wraps & Ramen, Height Japanese Cutlet has debuted close to Arville Street and Yui Edomae Sushi.

During its early opening days, the menu is serving five pieces of fried oysters for $7 and $5 potato salad or poke appetizers. The three current $12 entrees are the pork loin cutlet set, served with a bowl of rice, miso soup and Japanese pickles, and chicken or pork tenderloin variants. Diners can also add fried shrimp or pork sausage for an additional two dollars.

Height Japanese Cutlet, 4300 W. Spring Mountain Road, Suite 108, 702-998-9781. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
