Tijuana taco kingpins Tacos El Gordo closes one of its four Las Vegas locations on Tuesday.
In an odd move, the San Diego-based Mexican restaurant opened a second location on the Strip in January a mere 300 feet away from another outlet. The larger, 3,558-square-foot space serves the same Tijuana-inspired street food menu of tacos, mulas, tostadas, sopes, and quesadillas.
Now the location at 3049 Las Vegas Blvd. S., which operated from 2011 until 2014, then closing after rumored landlord dispute, and making a surprising return in 2015, closes again.
“We are saying ADIÓS to one location in Vegas,” the restaurant wrote on Facebook. “3049 S Las Vegas Blvd location will be permanently closed as of tomorrow. This location gave us great joy, fun and new AMIGOS . But don’t you worry, we have another location just a few steps away from this one ready to serve you TACOS CON TODO.”
But the location at 3041 Las Vegas Blvd. S., remains open, as do locations at 1724 E. Charleston Blvd. and 3260 Losee Road in North Las Vegas, serving tacos upgraded with suadero, adobada, tripa, buche, and cabeza.
