Area15, the 200,000-square-foot retail and entertainment center west of I-15 that plans to offer live events and art installations in 2020, now has an event partner for meetings, private parties, and corporate events. Hakkasan Group — the company behind Hakkasan at the MGM Grand, Omnia at Caesars Palace, and more — takes over as the caterer, and plans to hold any events outside of the company’s Las Vegas venues at the attraction opening next spring.
Some of the new event space at Area15 includes the 1,900-square-foot Sanctuary, featuring a 34-foot high bamboo structure by the Balinese design firm Ibuku; a 7,500-square-foot Lightboxx featuring 360-degree floor-to-ceiling projection mapped walls, a first of its kind in Las Vegas; and a 32,000-square-foot A-Lot, an outdoor patio venue featuring monumental art installations.
In October, Area15 announced that Dueling Axes, an indoor axe-throwing lounge based in Columbus, Ohio, plans to open 6,300 square feet of ax-throwing lanes, along with a bar and wine bar. Customers can throw at one of 18 lanes with space for six participants. Four lanes cater to VIP throwers, and a party room offers space for 25.
In August, Area 15 announced the cocktail and coffee bar Oddwood, highlighted by a 23-foot Japanese maple tree replete with twinkling LED lights, plans to open in 2020 with the rest of the center with a menu of cocktails and coffee. Emporium, a bar and arcade entertainment space, joins the space as well with 100 classic arcade games including pinball, skee ball, air hockey, pool tables, foosball, arcade basketball, and much more.
