Veteran restaurant Buldogis Gourmet Hot Dogs began the trend, Myungrang Hot Dog debuted to long lines earlier this year, and now newcomer Dragon Bowl Asian Grill brings its own range of Korean-style hot dogs to Spring Valley.
In the works since last year and built around a menu of Asian fusion bowls prepared with Korean barbecue meats, Dragon Bowl’s 990-square-foot corner space features a small outdoor patio at 6680 W. Flamingo Road between Rainbow Boulevard and Torrey Pines drive and not far from Forte Tapas.
Featuring a clean design ready for any future expansion, the counter-service menu prepares its bowls with options of seasoned vegetables, tofu, a version of jap chae, stir-fried glass noodles, or a fried egg, plus main ingredients of chicken teriyaki, bulgogi, and spicy pork rib. Fried chicken dishes include onion, soy sauce, and spicy flavor upgrades.
Among the hot dog on a stick options, a sausage and mozzarella combination, and a dog wrapped in potato street food-style, similar to the hit choice at Chinatown’s Myungrang.
For dessert, the casual choices include chocolate, mango, and strawberry snow shaved ice bowls.
Dragon Bowl Asian Grill, 6680 W. Flamingo Road, #12, 702-331-3374. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 9.30 p.m.
