The former home of North Las Vegas’ Little Dumpling Asian Buffet, vacant for more than seven years, is being replaced by a new tenant confident it can tap into the neighborhood's growing dining scene.

Lively family-favorite Mariscos Las Islitas will debut its fourth local expansion next year at 2555 W. Craig Road, next door to Outback Steakhouse and close to the intersection of Simmons Street, eight miles northwest from its Pecos Road original restaurant.

Specialists in Nayarit-style fish and seafood dishes found on the Pacific coast of Mexico, the location sits one mile west of Craig Road’s booming casual-dining restaurant row, now rumored to include the first Las Vegas site for the fast-casual Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill. The first Chick-fil A outpost in North Las Vegas opens there in 2020, taking over a 5,100-square-foot building equipped with a drive-thru.

Inside the roomy free-standing 6,255-square-foot building, Mariscos Las Islitas will install a separate bar from the main dining room and are expected to include live entertainment from Mariachi, Norteño and Banda performers, a popular attraction at its existing outposts.

On the future menu, camarones dishes, fajitas, the generous parrillada multi-person seafood platters, empanadas, lobster, crab legs, fish fillets, and seafood cocteles, including octopus, clam, crab, and oyster combinations.
