Fans of one of the oldest Mediterranean restaurants in Las Vegas need to hustle up to visit the original location before Feb. 15. That’s when Paymon’s Mediterranean Cafe & Lounge closes on Maryland Parkway.

“It is with deep sadness that after 30 years of business at this location, we will be closing Paymon’s Mediterranean Cafe at the end of business (9pm) on Friday February 15th,” the restaurant posted on the door of the location that includes a hookah lounge.

“The prolonged construction work and roadwork has impacted us in a way that we cannot sustain the business. Independent restaurants work on very tight profit margins and unfortunately, we could not survive,” the note continues.

The restaurant originally opened in 1988 with a deli featuring Middle Eastern food and beverages under the name Middle Eastern Bazaar. By 2002, owner Paymon Raouf changed the name to Paymon’s Mediterranean Café & Lounge, a move that included the hookah lounge addition. In 2004 Paymon’s opened its second full-service location on Sahara Avenue.

Paymon’s still has locations at 8380 W. Sahara Ave. near Durango Drive and at the newest at 8955 S. Eastern Ave. near the 215.
