Noted for its creative interior design as well as its Korean menu, Chinatown's Si Jang restaurant has undergone a re-branding on Decatur Boulevard.
With an apparent nod to BTS, the hugely popular South Korean boy band, the BTS Korean Restaurant name is an acronym, loosely translated as rice, “tang,” a Korean soup, and sake.
Located at the Decatur Twain Shopping Center, at the corner of Decatur Boulevard and Twain Avenue, BTS fills 2,580 square feet with a playful interior including overhead telephone lines, a phone box, period artwork, flowers on the ceiling, and weathered walls.
On the menu, rice and beef noodle soups and spicy soft tofu stews that can be upgraded with a choice of ingredients, plus the “gam-ja-tang” spicy pork and potato stew.
Alongside familiar items of tofu kimchi, braised short ribs, and a hot stone bowl bibimbap, BTS also serves stir-fried large intestines, and a “stone bowl dish” created with octopus, kimchi spam and bulgogi.
BTS Korean Restaurant, 3650 S. Decatur Blvd., #24 & 25, 702-463-0070. Open daily from 11 a.m to 11 p.m.
