Canada-born franchise Thai Express quickly debuted two Las Vegas expansions last year, but its first location in Henderson shuttered after less than 12 months.

Still bullish on the local market and keeping in pace with the brand's ambitious nationwide plans, the counter-service restaurant is now planning to open a new outpost in the southwest.

Thai Express will join two other tenants in “Pad C” at the under construction shopping center headed to the north west corner of Russell and Apache Roads, a short distance from DW Bistro.

Anchored by an Albertsons grocery store, the center is also hoping to entice a breakfast-focused restaurant, a sandwich store, a coffee vendor, and possible drive-thru vendors. The entire parcel is expected to be completed during the third quarter of this year.

Three miles to north on Flamingo Road, Thai Express remains open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., featuring Thailand-inspired murals, and a menu that allows customers to customize their main dish.

Selections include tom yum, or Thai soup, curry dishes, pad Thai, and pad see ew, followed by the option of adding proteins like shrimp, fish, or battered chicken and then choosing the level of heat, graded from mild to “very spicy”
