Currently hiring and almost ready to debut, Shanghai-born Happy Lemon will soon open its doors to a “premier” upgraded Chinatown home for salted cheese tea and lemon-based drinks.

The fifth U.S. expansion for the global brand, already found in hundreds of locations across Asia, will take over a 1,660-square-foot former dry cleaners at the Spring Mountain Plaza, on the corner of Jones Boulevard and Spring Mountain Road, close to the Korean ox bone soup menu at TangTangTang.

Featuring a layer of milk, cream cheese, and sprinkles of “savory rock salt,” its cheese teas are designed to be slowly drunk at a 45-degree angle, without straws and taking care not to mix the foam into the drink.

The Spring Mountain location is sharing its future counter-service menu will also include “milk tea boba puff cream,” mango matcha smoothies, a “kumquat lemon slushy” and “freshly squeezed lemon green tea.”

Yet to confirm its possible food selections, previous pastry counter options in California have included matcha Oreo donut cake, almond crisps, mango tiramisu, plus taro milk, a colorful rainbow roll and Hokkaido cream cakes.

Operating hours and a confirmed opening date have yet to be announced.
