San Diego breakfast specialist The Broken Yolk Cafe debuted its first location in Town Square with a roster of morning lunchtime favorites. The home of the BYC Challenge featured on the Travel Channel’s Man v. Food sits in Town Square’s new Landing at 6805 Las Vegas Blvd. S.
That BYC Challenge brings a dozen egg omelet with mushrooms, onions, American cheese, chili, and more cheese. The other half of a 15-inch pizza pan comes with home fries and two biscuits. Diners who finish the meal in less than one hour not only get the dish for free, but earn a T-shirt and a space on the restaurant’s hall of fame wall.
This location, the 34th in the restaurant’s kingdom, marks the first in Nevada, serving daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Some of the specialty dishes include Tiki toast with three slices of sweet Hawaiian bread dipped in egg batter and grilled, then topped with strawberries, blueberries, shredded coconut, caramel drizzle, and powdered sugar. The Golden State Benedict comes with sliced grilled tomato, avocado, applewood-smoked bacon, and two poached eggs topped with Hollandaise sauce and Sriracha. A fiesta burrito features scrambled eggs, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, seasoned shredded beef, and cheddar cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla and topped with salsa verde, sour cream, sliced avocado, and salsa. A roster of bloody Marys, mimosa flights, sangria, and “only in Vegas” specialty cocktails round out the menu.
Broken Yolk Café originally opened in 1979 in San Diego with lines of customers out the door.
